Abstract
1,260,291. Discharging material from skips; skip hoists. DAWSON FAWCETT Ltd. 4 June, 1969 [4 March, 1968], No. 10294/68. -Headings B8E and B8H. Loose material, e.g. asphalt-coated stone, is carried along a track 1, Fig. 1, from the output end 4 of a production plant to discharge stations 12, 13, 14 by a skip 11 provided with a drop bottom 24, Fig. 2, which is opened by means located at each discharge station. The skip is moved by a winch 17, Fig. 1, and a cable 17a and runs along the upper flanges of a pair of double flanged rails. Wheels 26, Fig. 2, which are attached to and support the drop-bottom 24 in its closed position, run on the lower pair of flanges. At each discharge station the lower flanges are cut away and replaced by pivoted members 28, Fig. 1, operated by cams or other means. The skip has latches to hold the bottom closed and the bottom may either be mechanically or gravity opened. Alternatively, Fig. 2, portions of the lower flanges 36 may be hinged to inoperative positions at the discharge stations to allow the wheels 26 to run over curved opening guides 37.
