Abstract

1,109,531. Taking up slack in flexible cables. MAVOR & COULSON Ltd. 7 July, 1965 [7 July, 1964], No. 27893/64. Heading B8B. Cable-guide chains 6, 6A, Fig. 1, fixed at 7 and coupled to a mining machine C movable along a coal face 3 on a conveyer frame pass over rollers 8 on at least one slide member 9 having controlled movement along the conveyer to maintain the chain loops taut. The slide members 9, 9A are hauled by a rope 11 passing over a winch drum 12 at one end of the conveyer returning over a guide pulley 13 at the opposite end. In modifications using a single chain 6, the chain 6A may be replaced by a rope or the member 9A may be omitted and the return rope portion 11C connected to the member 9. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specificataon 1,012,432.
