Abstract

1,254,150. Mixing in tortuous paths. SMART & BROWN ENGS. Ltd. 28 Oct., 1970 [28 Nov., 1969], No. 58337/69. Heading B1C. Apparatus for mixing the ingredients of a two-part polyester resin comprises inlets 14, 15 each communicating with a respective one of coaxial rings of apertures in a plate 24 (as shown, a single ring 25 divided into two groups of alternate apertures by a corrugated separator 26). The apertures discharge into a common space 28 communicating by means of an aperture 29 with a tortuous reverse flow path 31 defined by circular ribs (30, Fig. 4 not shown) on the underside of the plate 22. In the outermost channel of the flow path the mixture can pass through a ring of apertures 32 in a plate 21, impinges on the end wall of the housing 10 and passes out through the nozzle 12.
