Abstract
1,253,771. Quenching hydrocarbon pyrolysis effluent. LUMMUS CO. 24 Feb., 1970 [24 Feb., 1969], No. 8861/70. Heading C5E. A hydrocarbon pyrolysis effluent is quenched and a portion of the heat thereof utilized by contacting the effluent with a fuel oil and recovered quench liquid, passing the resultant mixture into a quench liquid fractionator, recovering from the fractionator a sidestream comprising the distillate fraction of the fuel oil and like components of the effluent and a bottom stream comprising the residual portion of the fuel oil and like components of the effluent, and employing a portion of the bottom stream, after cooling, as the recovered quench liquid. Part of the sidestream may be used as a fuel in the pyrolysis zone.
