Abstract
1,252,881. Shelving. DRUCE & CO. Ltd., K. B. FETHER and D. D. SPENCER. Dec.30, 1968 [Sept.28, 1967], No.44266/67. Heading A4B. A shelving or like structure comprises spaced uprights 10 each with spaced slots 14 selectively engaged by projecting hooked ends 19 of brackets 18 supporting shelves 17 or cupboards 59 formed at each side with an elongate laterally open channel in which a bracket 18 is received and located against lateral displacement. In one embodiment Figs.6, 9, a shelf 20 with stepped front and rear walls 22, 23 has side walls 24 with inturned flanges 25, the walls 24, flanges 25 and shelf top 21 together defining the channels. The bracket 18 is located between the side wall 24 and an extremity of the rear wall 23 and optionally the front wall 22. Each bracket 18 may be welded or rivitted to a side wall 24. In another embodiment, Fig. 12, a moulded plastics shelf has side walls 35 formed with a recess 37 defining the bracket-receiving channel and with stepped holes 38 to receive screws or studs passing through or secured to the bracket. The structure includes bracing members 15 and panels 60, 61 hooked into slots in the uprights 10. Shelf partitions 63 and a vertical back wall (27), Fig. 8 (not shown) are fitted on the shelves.
