A jewellery fastener of the kind in which a pin 9 is received and held against accidental withdrawal in a canister 1 is characterised in that the forward length of the pin when inserted through an aperture in an enclosure 8 of the canister is received between a pair of oppositely disposed bowed metal leaves 4, 5 the ends of the leaves abutting the interior wall of the canister and the central portions of the leaves being formed with grooves of substantially semicircular cross section to form between them a tubular receiver for the forward length of the pin and being provided with inwardly projecting protrusions 7 to apply a high friction upon the said length.
