Abstract
1,248,210. Valves. PEGLER-HATTERSLEY Ltd. 3 Jan., 1969 [11 Jan., 1968], No. 1699/68. Heading F2V. A pillar tap assembly comprises a valve unit 16 connected to the pillar 14, 20 at the end remote from a discharge head 10. The valve unit includes a self-closing valve obturating and piston member 40, 36 opened by a spindle 68 extending through the head 10 and with a push button 74. To retard closing a dashpot chamber beneath the piston is filled from the inlet through holes 66 and a one-way spring loaded restrictor needle valve 50, 56. The restriction is adjustable by a nut 62 on the part 56. In a modification, a release valve (88), Fig. 3 (not shown), for the dashpot chamber is carried inside the piston (36) and is opened by an extension of the spindle (68) before the valve (40) is opened. Also, the needle (78) extends through the seat (50) and is positively opened by the release valve (88) after lost motion has been taken up.
