Abstract

1,246,205. Travelling-wave tubes. SIEMENS A.G. 8 May, 1969 [9 May, 1968], No. 23416/69. Heading H1D. Flashover between the collector 1 of a travelling-wave tube and a surrounding earthed metal shielding cylinder 2, which also serves as a magnetic screen, is prevented by a tube 3 of synthetic resin bearing metallized coatings 6 and 7 on its internal and external surfaces, one of the coatings-6, as shown-stopping short of the ends of the tube. The tube 3 is slid into the cylinder 2 before the assembly of the collector, which is provided with coolant input and output ports 4 and 5. Tube 3 is preferably of plasticized epoxy resin containing 50% of ground quartz.
