Abstract
1,189,640. Klystrons. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. 6 Dec., 1967 [9 Dec., 1966], No. 55458/67. Heading H1D. The effective capacity of the gap 9 between the drift tubes 1 and 2 projecting into the cavity 6 of a klystron is reduced, to permit an increase in the tuning range of the klystron, by the provision of surrounding conductive members 11, which may project through the cavity walls, as shown, and constitute the soft iron polepieces of a magnetic system. Alternatively, the members 11 may be situated wholly within the cavity and be secured to the cavity end walls (Figs. 1 and 3, not shown), or may be integral with the drift tubes.
