Abstract
1,245, 111. Rotary positive-displacement pumps. P. SADLER. March 18, 1969 [March 29, 1968], No.15187/68. Heading F1F. A two-stage vacuum-pump has an annular piston 91 with a vane 94 engaging slidably with a cylindrical swivel gland 95 adjacent an inlet tube 98, one end of the piston engaging with an accentric slot 92 in a rotary disc 93. A stationary piston 99 carries a spring-loaded vane 100 and is co-axial with an external driving-spindle (not shown) for the disc. Inlet passages 104 and transfer ports 105 are formed in the piston 91 and the vane 94. Two pumping spaces 102, 103 are thus formed and connected in series. An outlet port 106 is controlled by an oil-immersed non-return valve 107. In a second embodiment, Fig. 3 (not shown), the inlet passages communicate with the outer pumping space, outlet ports (124) communicate with the inner pumping space, and the vane 100 is replaced by one that is pivotally attached to the piston.
