Abstract

1,242,153. Unloading compressors. HOERBIGER VENTILWERKE A.G. Sept.26, 1969 [Oct.16, 1968], No.47404/69. Heading F1N. A compressor is unloaded by lifting a valve plate 12 against the action of a spring 14 away from its seat 10 by means of a plurality of control pistons 16 each slidable in a respective bore 15 in the seat 10, the bores having axes inclined or normal to the direction of movement of the plate. The vane may be an outlet valve or, as shown, an inlet valve. Each control piston has an inclined control face which acts directly on the valve plate, Fig. 3 (not shown), or, as shown, indirectly via a ball 18. To lift the plate pressure fluid is admitted to the cylinder bores from an annular chamber 20 fed from a channel 19 in the compressor housing 5. The pistons may be hollow to accommodate a spring- loaded plunger 24 for returning the pistons.
