Abstract
1,240,370. Jointing by stamping. AMP Inc. 16 April, 1970 [23 May, 1969], No. 26388/69. Heading B3Q. An actuator for a fluid-operated handtool, in particular a pneumatic handtool for crimping an electrical connector on to a wire, has a spool valve 50 in a valve sleeve 30 which, in the position shown admits air to the left side of a piston 7 in the cylinder 6 to move a ram 13 to the right. When the pressure in the cylinder reaches a predetermined value a spring loaded conical valve 70 is opened and air is admitted to the base of the spool valve to move it to its initial position, Fig. 1 (not shown), whereupon air is admitted via port 41, tube 47 and holes 17 to the right hand side of piston 7 to move the ram 13 to the left. The speed at which the reversal takes place may be altered by means of a regulator 75 or by changing the spring 71 which presses the conical valve 70 against passage 66.
