Abstract

1,132,045. Making tyres. DUNLOP CO. Ltd. 12 Nov., 1965 [1 Dec., 1964], No. 48023/65. Heading B7C. [Also in Division B8] Apparatus for the formation of a continuous length of " bias cut " rubberized fabric, for use in the manufacture of pneumatic tyres, comprises an intermittently driven conveyer 4 for feeding continuous parallel cord rubberized fabric underneath a cutting knife 5 disposed at a " bias " angle to said conveyer. The lengths of fabric so formed are fed down a shoot 7 for alternate delivery to upper and lower assembling platforms 14, 16. The platforms are disposed at an angle to the endless conveyer whereby the lengths of bias cut fabric are arranged in an end-to-end configuration, on both platforms, on a backing material to form said continuous length of " bias cut " rubberized fabric the " ends" being the sides of the continuous fabric on the endless conveyer. The angle of the cutter is adjustable.
