Abstract
1,124,985. Moulding cable end seals. TELEPHONE CABLES Ltd. 18 July, 1966 [21 July, 1965], No. 31019/65. Heading B5A. [Also in Divisions H2 and H4] A cable having outer plastics sheath 2 (Fig. 1) has its end sealed in a mould 14 by pouring in at opening 16 a suitable liquid sealing medium which sets to form a water block. Layers of tape 18, 20 initially seal the mould around the cable. The cable cores 6 may be connected as required and located in their final positions before the mould is filled. The cores 6 may be connected through loading coils (26) (Fig. 2, not shown) to the cores of a similarly terminated cable; the cable ends and coils being enclosed by a jointing sleeve (30) (Fig. 2, not shown).
