Abstract

1,209,519. Injection moulded cable joint. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. 9 Oct., 1968, No. 47847/68. Heading B5A. [Also in Division H2] The joint between a thermoplastics-sheathed electric cable 1 and a polythene sleeve 2 surrounding it, is made by placing a plastics washer 3 around the cable or winding tape of paper or plastics material around it, sliding the sleeve 2 along to overlap the spacer, placing a mould 4 against the overlap, perforating the sleeve at the inlet and outlet parts 5, 6 of the mould and injecting molten polythene until the cavity 9 is filled with set polythene. The mould may be sectional and removable or in one piece and designed for destruction; in each case it is of epoxide resin putty.
