A curtain rail 1 has a lengthwise lateral flange 4 which has a tapering downward extension to form a tapered notch receiving a wedge-shaped part 5 of a securing bracket 6. In modifications the rail has a circular channel, is of I-section or consists of a flat vertical strip and may have extensions to receive pulling cords.
