Abstract

1.120,519. Manhole covers. CASTINGS & FORGINGS PTY. Ltd. 19 Sept., 1966 [8 March, 1966], No. 41806/66. Heading E1G. A manhole cover 8 is supported in a base member 1 by a supporting member 5 adjustable for height by packing means 10. The supporting member and packing means, which may be circular or segmental, are secured to the base 1 by bolts 9, the heads of which lie in recesses which co-operate with bosses on the cover 8 to prevent rotation. The downwardly depending flange on the cover and the inner surface of the supporting member may be tapered to prevent rocking of the cover.
