Abstract

1,119,314. Nozzles for treatment of molten metals. STAHL-UND ROHRENWERK REISHOLZ G.m.b.H. 26 Jan., 1967 [21 Feb., 1966], No. 3949/67. Heading F4B. A nozzle, particularly for the introduction of flushing gas to a metallurgical vessel, comprises a body part 1 with a gas inlet passage 2 and a head part 4 secured on to a stud la projecting from the body part 1 into a recess in the head. A chamber 4a formed between the stud and the head is connected to gas discharge passages 6 of less than 0À1 mm.<SP>2</SP> cross-section by grooves 5 traversing the screw threads. In a modification, the head has a threaded stud received by a tapped hole in the body part, and the gas inlet passage is connected to the outlets by passages within the stud on the head. An intermediate member may be interposed between the head and the body, the gas outlets being formed on either or both the upper and lower faces of the member. The outlets may be formed by grooves in the co-operating parts or by wires clamped between them.
