Abstract

1,119,178. Break-spinning apparatus. VYZKUMNY USTAV BAVLNARSKY. 7 Feb., 1966 [16 Nov., 1965], No. 5189/66. Heading D1D. In break-spinning apparatus, the surfaces of a separator plate and a plate that closes the spinning chamber, between which is formed a channel for guiding the fibres to a collecting surface of the chamber, diverge in the direction of movement of the fibres to form a channel of diverging section. In Fig. 1, the spinning chamber 1 rotates in a fixed housing 5 and takes the form of two opposed frusto-conical portions providing a collecting- surface 7 where they join. The open end of the chamber is closed by a fixed plate 14 which carries a tube 15 through which the spun yarn is withdrawn, and a housing for a roller 18 which feeds the material to a combing roller 19 from which fibres are fed through a tangential passage 22. The tube 15 carries a separator plate 17 which prevents the fibres being prematurely picked up by the yarn-end. The inner surface of the plate 14 is conical and the plate 17 is also conical, but the conicities differ so that the channel between them into which the passage 22 delivers the fibres to be directed on to the collecting- surface 7, gradually diverges. The outer surface of the separator 17 forms with a plane at right angles to the rotational axis of the chamber, an angle in the range of 5‹-15‹. The tube 15 gradually increases in diameter in the direction in which the yarn travels. Relatively to the yarn in the tube 15, the yarn on the chamber makes an angle in the range of 100‹-70‹, and the yarn leaving the tube makes an angle in the range of 60‹-120‹.
