1,116,069. Batteries. L. S. ZDAROV, D. B. ZLOTNIKOVA, A. F. TOKAREV and I. P. SAMOKHVALOV. 12 Oct., 1965, No. 43175/ 65. Heading H1B. An alkaline accumulator comprises a nested stack of dished, perforated steel plates 4 (Fig. 4, not shown) carrying active material of opposite polarity, the peripheries of the plates being stepped so that interposed separators 13 are trapped between adjacent plates to form a seal which prevents active material being washed away. The plates are provided with diametrically opposed eyelets 6 (Fig. 2, not shown) to which are welded spring contacts 7 and all the plates of one polarity are threaded on two conducting connecting rods e.g. 8 and all the plates of the other polarity are threaded on two rods 9. Rods 8 are connected to an external terminal 2 by a bridge 10 and rods 9 to a terminal 3 by a bridge 11. The bridges 10, 11 are insulated from one another by packing 12. A plate 14 is secured to the other end of the rods 9 and the electrode plates are clamped between plate 14 and bridge 11. Nickelcadium and nickel-iron couples are specified.
