Abstract

1,114,253. Tyre servicers. DUNLOP CO. Ltd. 20 Sept., 1965 [26 Sept., 1964], No. 39314/64. Heading B7C. [Also in Division B6] Breaker material 12 is guided transversely by a plurality of vertical rollers 22 engaging the web edges. Each set of rollers 22 is mounted on a guide arm 18, and both arms are mounted for movement transverse to the path of the material 12 on a pair of parallel rods 19. Springs 20 resiliently urge the guide arms 18 apart. Attached to the arms 18 are adjusting arms 23, the parts 24 of which converge as they extend away from the guide arms. A presettable gauge is attached to a supporting arm 13 forming part of the material feeding mechanism described in Specification 1,114,254. The gauge comprises a shaft 14, a pair of gauge members 15 slidably and adjustably received on the shaft 14, and a pair of rollers 16 carried by the members 15. The gauge is pre-set for the width of breaker material so that when the supporting arm 13 is lowered, the rollers 16 first engage the converging parts of the arms 23, and during the continued downward movement of the supporting arm 13, they urge the arms 23 and therefore the guide arms 18 and rollers 22 inwardly until the rollers 22 are spaced apart a distance equal to the width of the web. In a modification, Figs. 4 and 5 (not shown), each guide arm 18 carries an elongated runner (26) having a vertical surface (27) for engagement with the edge of the material.
