Abstract

1,113,329. Stabilizing boats. DOUGLAS AIRCRAFT CO. Inc. 5 July, 1966, No. 30203/66. Headings B7A and B7M. A hydrostabilizer 24 having a body 78 to which is attached a pair of hydrofoils 80 near its forward end and a stabilizing fin assembly 82 near its after end, is suspended from the boom 28 of a boat by two wires 34a and 34b, the directions of which in the vertical position respectively intersect the longitudinal axis of the body 78 forward and aft of the centre of gravity of the hydrostabilizer 24. The stabilizer system for the boat consists of a hydrostabilizer mounted on each side of the boat and each may be wound in or out on reels such as 48a, 48b. The booms are raised to vertical positions when the stabilizer system is not being used.
