Abstract

1,109,914. Coaxial connectors. E. L. HUTCHINGS. 28 Sept., 1966 [28 Sept., 1965], No. 41248/65. Heading H2E. A coaxial connector has tubular contacts 1, 2 in the sides of which are formed resilient tongues 13, 5 having prongs 14, 15 which are forced into contact with the conductors 21, 20 of the cable 19 by axial movement of insulating sleeves 6, 9. The sleeves 6, 9 are screwed together, the resulting axial movement enabling conical section 10 and bush 7 to press on the tongues so that the prongs establish contact. The contact parts may be socket or terminal members and the connector may have a metal body in which the insulating bush 7 would be gripped by or moulded around support arms (16), (Fig. 2A, not shown). A separate bush 7 may have an internal groove and be held in position by pressure from tongue 13 engaging the groove. Prongs 15 may be modified (Figs. 5 and 6, not shown), if the cable has insulation of low mechanical strength.
