Abstract

1450004 Two-part couplings BENDIX CORP 10 Feb 1975 [14 Feb 1974] 5581/75 Heading H2E One part 1 of a two-part coupling comprises an insulator 30 with bores extending from the front face 31 to the rear face 32, a contact in each bore, a metal sleeve 20 insulated from and coaxially mounted around one 10 of the contacts, and a resilient conducting member 21 connected at one end to the sleeve and switchably deflectable into contact with the contact 10. The contact 10 and sleeve 20 are insulated at 35 and have terminal portions 12, 22 wired 23 to an e.m.f. 70 and lamp 80; the member 21 is a finger or fingers formed from a tube welded at 26 to the sleeve. The other coupling part 100 comprises an insulating switch activating member 110 which, on mating, engages shoulders 25 to deflect the member 21 out of contact with contact 10 and break the circuit to the lamp 80. The ports 1, 100 comprise complementary contacts 40, 140 secured to the insulation 30, 130 by retainers 50, 150 with resilient members 51, 151. The connector may comprise two or more members 110 and members 21, and may be arranged so that the lamp is illuminated when the contacts 40, 140 are mated.
