Abstract
1,108,408. Winding strips. SIEMAG SIEGENER MASCHINENBAU G.m.b.H. 14 Sept., 1966 [23 Sept., 1965], No. 40977/66. Heading B3E. A belt winder for reeling strip on to a drum includes, in addition to the belt, rollers and guide bars positioned where the leading end of the strip first contacts the drum to direct and press the leading end against the drum. Two laterally-spaced belts 13 are supported on rollers 7, 8, 11, 10, 9, the roller 11 keeping the belt under tension. The rollers 7, 8 are carried by a lever 4 pivoted at 3 to a frame 2 and the rollers 9, 10 by a lever 6 pivoted at 5 to the frame 2. As the frame 2 is moved toward a drum 1 on which the strip is to be wound the lever 6 is swung up by a rod 25 moved by a roller 23 running on a control ramp 24. Stops 20, 21 limit the movement of the levers 4, 6. Strip, guided by a run-in plate 22 on the lever 4, is engaged directly by three rollers 15 on the shaft of the rollers 8 and by guide bars 17 which together serve to press the leading end of the strip on to the drum. The upper surface of a guide 19 on the lever 6 serves to guide the leading end of the strip to the drum. Bars 18 and rollers 16, on the shaft of the rollers 9, also directly engage the leading end of the strip on the drum just prior to passing under the incoming strip. Flanges 26, on the shaft of the rollers 7, may also guide the incoming strip to protect the belts.
