Abstract

1,188,467. Surgical splints and traction apparatus. G. F. HARE. 25 June, 1968 [29 June, 1967], No. 30196/68. Heading A5R. [Also in Division E2] The telescoping rods I and 2, Figs. 3 and 7, of a splint for a patient's injured leg are locked by a pin 39 on a spring-steel arm 9, fitting into recesses 37 in the inner rod 1 through holes 38 in the outer rod 2. The traction device integral with the splint consists of a metal strip 31 and snap fastener 32, Fig. 5, tensioned by a nylon belt 29 wound on a ratcheted spool. The support for the foot consists of tapes 15 and 17, Fig. 2, of non-elastic nylon with rings 16 and 18 for attachment to the snap fastener. A double support 12 can be fitted to accommodate the splint additionally in the turned-over position (Fig. 4, not shown).
