Abstract
1,181,295. Anti-fertility compositions; pestcontrol using naphthalenediol derivatives. UPJOHN CO. 12 July, 1967 [17 Aug., 1966], No. 32145/67. Headings A5B and A5E. [Also in Division C2] Compositions having anti-fertility, oestrogenic, anti-spermatogenic, cholesterol-lowering and pest-control effects comprise as active ingredient a 1,2-diphenyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-1, 2-naphthalenediol derivative of the general formula wherein X is a hydrogen or halogen atom or a trifluoromethyl or C 1-8 alkyl group; and Y is a hydrogen or halogen atom or a trifluoromethyl, C 1-8 alkyl or -ANRR 1 group, in which A is a C 1-6 alkylene radical and R and R 1 taken individually are C 1-8 alkyl groups or taken together with the nitrogen atom to which they are attached represent a 5-7 membered saturated heterocyclic radical; or a pharmacologically acceptable acid addition salt or quaternary ammonium derivative thereof in association with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier or a bait and/or attractant. The compositions may be orally or parenterally administered in the form of tablets, powder packets _or capsules or as solutions or suspensions in solvents or other vehicles.
