Abstract

1,181,130. Boxes; box pallets. ASHTON CONTAINERS Ltd. 13 May, 1968 [13 July, 1967], No. 32203/67. Headings B8H and B8P. A box is erected from a blank, Fig. 26 (not shown), to have opposed pairs of sidewalls 31, 33; 30, 32 with extension panels 35, 36 on the walls 30, 32 folded-in to form the box base and extension panels 43, 44, 48; 46, 47, 48 folded-in along parallel score lines to form supports 61, 62 holding the box base off the ground. As shown, strengthening bars 12, themselves folded up from rectangular blanks having parallel score lines, Fig. 1 (not shown), are inserted through aligned holes 50 extending through the box sidewalls 31, 33 and the support panels 44, 47, to hold the supports 61, 62 in the folded position shown and strengthen the box base. The tines of a fork-lift truck may engage in the strengthening bars 12. Alternatively, the strengthening bars 12 may be omitted, the ground-engaging supports 61, 62 being secured by stapling, adhesive &,c. The tines of a fork-lift truck may then engage in, or between, the groundengaging supports 61, 62. A simple flanged lid 25 is erected from a further blank, Fig. 2a (not shown).
