Abstract

1,179,979. Ball-point pens. DAI NIHON BUNGU K.K., [trading as JAPAN STATIONERY CO. Ltd.]. 18 Nov., 1968, [16 Nov., 1967; 8 Jan., 1968], No. 54557/68. Heading B6P. A ball-point pen comprises a casing 1, divided into an overflow chamber 13 and a reservoir 12 by a resilient plastics bulkhead 8. An ink absorbent mass 15 in the overflow chamber 13 surrounds a capillary rod or core 6 which extends to the ball-point 2. A tube 7, mounted by the bulkhead 8 to surround the core 6 defines an annular venting passage about the core 6, which passage communicates with the reservoir 12 via a space 11 between the end of the tube and the ball-point holder 3. In (Fig. 2) communication is achieved with longitudinal slots (14) at the nib end of the tube 7. A vent hole 18 is provided in a plug 17 at the rear of the casing. In (Figs. 3 and 4) respectively, one or two ink-absorbent masses are positioned in the overflow chamber 13 by two or three resilient plastics bulkheads.
