1,179,446. Explosive charges. EXPLOSIVES & CHEMICAL PRODUCTS Ltd. 26 May, 1967 [1 June, 1966], No. 24748/67. Heading F3A. [Also in Division C1] An explosive charge comprises an explosive consisting of ammonium nitrate of specific surface area greater than 500 cm<SP>2</SP>/g and containing less than 1% of combustible substances, and a booster for initiating detonation. The ammonium nitrate may be prepared as described in French Specification 1,475,959. The booster may consist of pentolite. Barium sulphate may be added to increase the density of the explosive which in an example contains 1% of moisture. Specification 1,106,529 is referred to.
