Abstract

1,176,959. Two-part couplings. THOMAS & BETTS CORP. 20 July, 1967 [29 Aug., 1966], No. 33396/67. Heading H2E. The bared ends of the conductors of at least one flat cable 14 are electrically connected, e.g. by soldering, to the rearward portions 13 of the contacts of connector 10, strain relief of the connection being provided by members 23, 24 fixed to connector 10 by rivets 30 and to each other by rivets 32 to sandwich the cables. The contacts may be ribbed to lock within connector 10, and may have semi-cylindrical cut-away portions for ease of soldering. Members 23, 24 are knurled at 26, 28 for easy gripping. Connector 10 mates with a block 40 carrying pins 42 which fit into the contacts carried by connector 10, and strain relief members 23, 24 have ridges 64 which lock into channels 62 of block 40. Proper mating is achieved by polarizing these parts.
