Abstract

1,176,845. Two-part couplings. ELCO CORP. 14 March, 1967 [17 March, 1966], No. 11871/67. Heading H2E. A connector consists of one or more contacts 12 held captive in an insulating body 14. In the embodiment shown, which is a modular block being a portion of a multi-contact connector (Fig. 1, not shown), a pair of contacts 12 moulded in an insulating base 20 protrude through holes 44 to engage complementary contacts of another connector when the base 20 is inserted in the cavity 16 of the body 14. One or more resilient fingers 38, releasably hold the base 20 in the cavity 16. The body 14 may be made of nylon or polypropylene, and there may be grooves 52 mating with elongated projections on complementary modular blocks.
