Abstract

1,174,994. Mining installations. GEWERKSCHAFT EISENHUTTE WESTFALIA. 20 March, 1967 [22 April, 1966], No. 12958/67. Heading E1F. Apparatus for the driving of roadways and/or stable holes in advance of longwall mine faces comprises cutter wheels 17, 19 secured to either end of a horizontal shaft 18 rotatably mounted in the end of and at right angles to a vertically swingable boom 17 of a turret 14 mounted for rotation about a vertical axis 21 on a skid frame slidable along a conveyer 11. With this apparatus a high cutting rate is obtained as both disc can cut into the face if the boom is swung about the axis 21 to lie when advancing along a face at an obtuse angle to the face.
