Abstract

1,173,549. Two-part couplings. BRITISH LIGHTING INDUSTRIES Ltd. 22 July, 1968, No. 34941/68. Heading H2E. Bus-bars 15, 16 in adjacent distribution tracks 10 are connected by contacts 32, 33 of a member 30 which is located by projections 49 resting on ledges 22, 23. The contacts 32, 33 of brass, are pressed against the bus-bars 15, 16 by springs 37 between the contacts and walls 34, 35 of a P.V.C. body 31. A contact 42, of stainless steel, has raised apertures 52 which clip into counterparts in earthing strips 21 and through which bolts 51 pass to secure the coupling member 30. The body 31 has an asymmetrical cross-section so that it fits into an end of the track 10, in one way only, thus ensuring correct polarity of the bus-bars. Projections 50 provide further location means.
