Abstract

1,171,201. Wells &c. GRAY TOOL CO. 6 Feb., 1967 [22 March, 1966], No. 5621/67. Heading E1F. [Also in Division F2] A wellhead comprises a casing head 10 having a bore 22 with an inwardly facing circumferential groove 42, a casing hanger 98 received in the bore, a split ring 48 normally within the groove and free of the hanger, and a contracting device 64 for forcing the ring partially out the groove so that the ring engages the hanger. The hanger has seals on a cylindrical surface engaging the bore, but in a modification the sealing surfaces are conical. The hanger supports a further hanger also held down by contracting a split ring. A hanger for multiple tubing is supported above the second hanger by projections radially movable into the bore, the tubing hanger being held down by the set screws.
