Abstract

1,170,215. Friction clutches. RENAK-WERKE VEB. 30 July, 1968, No. 36374/68. Heading F2C. To obviate fracture and uneven wear of sintered iron graphite friction linings 5, 5<1> of a motorvehicle clutch plate 2, the friction linings 5, 5<1> are each directly attached in spaced pairs to spokes 21 and carriers 4 of the clutch plate respectively, the carriers 4 being resiliently mounted by leaf springs 6 on the clutch plate spokes 2<1> and having bent tongues 41 engaging correspondingly shaped apertures and tongues 9 on the clutch plate spokes such that the carriers are resiliently retained thereon with limited axial movement whereby the brittle linings 5, 5<1> are cushioned against damage during clutch engagement. Rectangular projections 11 integral with or connected to, viz. a moulded pad, the carriers 4 engage correspondingly shaped guide holes 7 in the clutch plate spokes 2<1> to prevent skewing of the carriers 4. The clutch plate 2 may (as shown) be formed with the spokes 2<1> or may be of solid disc form.
