Abstract

1,169,397. Bookbinding. L. J. MORRIS. 25 Jan., 1968 [1 Feb., 1967], No. 4987/67. Heading B6A. A machine, for securing together a pack of sheets by a channel shaped elongated member 30 of resilient material which is adapted to receive and grip one edge of the pack, comprises a pair of elongated blades 11, 12 arranged face to face, over which the channel member may be slid, and means for separating the blades to permit insertion of the pack of sheets therebetween. The blades 11, 12 are separable by a cam plate 19 acting on a follower 18 to move the blade 11 with respect to the blade 12 by rotation of a plate 15 about a pivot 16. The pack is inserted between the flanges when separated by the blades and the channel member may then be depressed against a spring 29 to release the channel member from the blades. Adjustable stops 31, 33 are provided for the channel member and pack of sheets respectively.
