Abstract
1,164,741. Practice projectiles. DYNAMIT NOBEL A.G. 2 Jan., 1967 [31 Dec., 1965], No. 178/67. Heading F3A. Practice projectile which disintegrates as it leaves the muzzle of a weapon, comprising a case 1, e.g. of plastics material, and a non-explosive granular or particulate filling 6, e.g. of metal, a solid sub-calibre bullet 5 being contained within a bore communicating with the rear of the shell. The bullet may be made of metal or plastics material with a relatively soft outer covering, and the bore may be provided with rifling formed directly in a bound mass of the filling or in a plastics tube 2. One or more passages 9 extend between the bore and the base of the shell and may contain a delay composition for affording a time lag before said passages are freed for gas from a cartridge to pass therethrough. The bullet 2 is arranged to leave the bore and proceed towards a target just before the projectile disintegrates.
