Abstract

1,163,000. Scaffolding. KWIKFORM Ltd. 30 Nov., 1967 [17 Dec., 1966; 28 April, 1967], Nos. 56578/66 and 19709/67. Heading E1S. A scaffolding element 9 is of generally triangular configuration with round tubular member 10, 12 and 14 and a round or rectangular tubular member 16 welded to the members 12 and 14 and carrying a slidable round connecting sleeve 19 welded to a cylindrical or channel-sectioned mount 18 which can move between a position where it abuts an end plate 17 on the member 16 and a position where a ring 20 welded inside the sleeve 19 contacts the top of the vertical member 10a an adjacent element. The vertical member 10b of a still further element can be mounted in the top of the sleeve 19, and' members 10a and 10b are retained 'by screws 22b and 21b. A flange 23 serves to support the member 16 of a horizontally adjacent element, and in the embodiment of Fig. 7 (not shown) is retained betwen the bottom of the member 16 and a welded-on angular member 29 which fixes the elements together more securely. In this embodiment, downward movement of the sleeve 19 is prevented beyond a certain point by a transverse pin 27, and a stay 26 is welded between member 12 and the top of member 16. A square tower can be built up with the elements, and employed for supporting floor shuttering.
