A pneumatic or hydraulic press for glueing textiles has several press rams 7 with associated single-acting cylinders 2 distributed uniformly and symmetrically over the area of the upper press plate 1. Return motion of the plate 1 is effected by springs 6 co-operating with spindles 3 each associated with a separate press ram.
