Abstract

1,161,534. Printing-apparatus. F. MALKIN & CO. Ltd. 7 March, 1968 [10 March, 1967], No. 11290/67. Heading B6C. Apparatus for printing on curved articles such as saucers comprises an endless flexible belt 13 coated with a liquid decorating medium, e.g. a metallic suspension or a colour, a stationary former 18 located between the runs of the belt with an operative contour corresponding approximately to-that of the articles, and a pad 20 bearing the design to be printed and adapted to be moved into light contact with a section of the coated belt held against the operative contour of the former by suction. The belt is driven intermittently by a roller 15 and is brought to rest before being engaged by the pad. Screws 16 are provided to adjust the belt tension and plates 12 support the belt on each side of the former. The belt is coated by a roller and blade duct, the blade 28 being adjustable by screws 27. Suction is applied through at least one duct 19; alternatively the former may have a perforated or porous upper wall. The pad is lowered by a rod 21.
