Abstract

In core spinning an elastic core with a roving, the roving is displaced on the forwarding rolls upstream of the twisting point to the right of the core if the composite yarn is to be Z-twisted and to the left of the core if the composite yarn is to be S-twisted by a distance not greater than 1/8 ". In examples the core is composed of a spandex filament and the roving of wool fibres, or the core is a blend of spandex and polyester fibres and the roving is composed of polyester fibres. The roving may contact the rolls upstream of the nip in order to flatten the roving.
