1,158,972. Indicating apparatus. ADAM OPEL A.G. Feb.8, 1968 [Feb. 23, 1967], No. 6245/68. Heading G1J. [Also in Division E2] A motor vehicle dashboard 12 includes an instrument panel 11 comprising a housing 13 with a removable cover 15 which has one or more apertures for instruments and has lugs 17 at its lower edge inserted in a groove 18 in the housing 13 and a recess 20 in the upper edge 19 engaged releasably by leaf-springs 27. Each spring 27 passes through a slot 23 in a block 22 on a flange 21 of the housing 13 and is secured against a stop 28 by a tongue 29. Each spring 27 can be manipulated by a tab 24 pivotally connected thereto by parts 25, 26. When the springs 27 are holding the cover 15 in closed position each tab 24 fills an opening 35 in the housing 13 with corresponding stepped parts 33, 34 mating. As each tab 24 is pushed upwards it tilts and its edge 33 snaps into the step 34 of the opening 35 to lock its spring free from the cover. The Plastics housing 13 is secured by screws 14 to the dashboard 12 which is provided with cushioned supports 16.
