Abstract

1,142,017. Receptacle with lid. RAYDYOT Ltd. 25 Aug., 1966 [20 Oct., 1965], No. 44382/65. Heading B8P. [Also in Division A2] A receptacle, e.g. an ash tray or glove box, for use in a motor vehicle, comprises a body (14) and a hinged lid (12) having complementary shaped hinge parts (17, 24) which permit the lid to be removed from the body in a direction normal to the hinge axis, a cranked blade spring (13) anchored to the body or the lid extending across a cam 26 on the lid or the body so that hinging movement deflects and stresses the spring so that it urges the lid to a closed position or open position. When the lid is opened past a central position the spring holds it in a fully open position. A dished metal plate (33) in the body serves as a support for a cigarette or as a means for extinguishing it, and cranked blade springs may be fastened to the side walls of the body to firmly retain the receptacle in a well in which it is seated.
