Abstract
1,158,189. Two part couplings. FERRANTI Ltd. 18 April, 1968 [22 April, 1967], No. 18627/67. Heading H2E. A multiple-conductor flat cable connector comprises two attachment members 25, 10, of insulating material shaped to sandwich between them, by means of studs 17 and apertures 18, part of the insulating body 24 of a cable 22, from which conductors 23 have been freed. The member 10 contains a number of recesses 11 in which are positioned resilient contact members 19. As shown cable 22 comprises a single row of conductors each of which is placed between a pair of ribs 15 formed on the member 10 and connected to a terminal part 21 of the contact. Both attachment members carry contacts when connection of a cable, comprising pairs of conductors arranged side-by-side in two parallel rows, is required. (Figs. 5, 6, not shown). The free end 20 of contact 19 makes contact with a respective contact pin in a suitable socket (Fig. 7, not shown).
