1472343 Two-part coupling; terminals CANNON ELECTRIC (GREAT BRITAIN) Ltd 6 Feb 1975 5071/75 Addition to 1425477 Heading H2E An electrical connector assembly comprises a pair of connector elements (Fig. 7) locked together by latches on one engaging hooks on the other, the element carrying the latches (Fig. 2) comprising two insulating half-shells 3, 4 having slots in which are located a plurality of pairs of jaws 1, 2, made of brass strip which rupture the insulation of and make electrical contact with the corresponding tracks on a multiconductor flat cable 9 when the two half-shells are pressed together, projections 6, 7 on one half-shell fitting recesses 5 and holes (not shown) on the other. The other element (Fig. 6, not shown), carrying the hooks, is similar but has a female electrical contact (16) in place of the male electrical contact 8. The dimensions of the latches and hooks are different on the two sides to prevent inverted connection.
