Abstract
1,155,728. Comminuting apparatus. HORAI TEKKO SHO CO. Ltd. 6 Sept., 1966, No. 39886/66. Heading B2A. Apparatus for comminuting plastics material comprises a water-cooled hollow rotor 28, Fig. 1, carrying ring-shaped cutters 34 arranged in a stack, the upper cutters having a larger pitch than the lower cutters. The rotor cooperates with water-cooled fixed out adjustable cutters 37 supported on a wall 40 of a frame 39. The rotor is. secured to a shaft 26 driven by a pulley 29. Material to be comminuted is fed via a port 55 so as to fall on a slanted surface of a block 27 covering the rotor 28. Pulverization is effected in a space 36 and thereafter in a space W, Figs. 10 or 11, which may have further teeth 61, 62 on members 59, 60. Cooling water is supplied via an inlet 22 into a pipe 30, whence it is delivered through a hole 33 to fill the rotor 28. The water follows a spiral indentation 29 along an inner wall of the rotor, and thence it passes via a space 31 within the shaft 26 and via a port 23 into an exhaust pipe 47. The fixed cutters 37 are cooled by water flowing through a pipe 46, a chamber 43 and a pipe 47. Suction is effected by a fan 50 secured to the shaft 26.
