Abstract

1,145,474. Suspended ceilings. HUNTER DOUGLAS INTERNATIONAL Ltd. 5 May, 1966 [10 May, 1965], No. 19877/66. Heading E1W. Ventilation gaps 8 between panels 4 and/or 5 in a ceiling construction are defined between walls 7 which are displaceable relative to each other whereby the width of the openings may be adjusted. Each gap defining wall 7 may be carried at its ends by carrier members 13 mounted on stringers 1, the carrier members having stops 16 which cooperate in pairs to limit the minimum spacing between the walls 7 when an adjusting tool acting on the walls 7 causes the members 13 to slide towards each other along the stringers. The gap defining walls 7 may also comprise flanges 10 at the same level as flanges 2 of the stringers 1 to extend beneath the panels 5. The flanges 2 of the stringers 1 have lips 3 for the support of panels 4 extending beneath the stringers. In a modification, Fig. 8 (not shown) the panels such as 5 have edge slots in which flanges equivalent to the flanges 10 engage and may have additional flanges extending beneath the panels. A modified form of carrier member which supports the ends of opposed pairs of gap defining walls is described with reference to Figs. 9 to 12 (not shown).
