Abstract

1,141,953. Two-part couplings; mounting terminals. INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ELECTRIC CORP. 20 Jan., 1967 [27 Jan., 1966], No. 3137/67. Heading H2E. Contact-retaining spring collets 16 are secured in a one-piece thermoplastic housing 10 by the steps of inserting each collet into a passage in the housing until its forward end abuts a shoulder 14, then deforming the rear of the housing by heat and pressure to form a retaining shoulder 34 at the rear of each passage. Heat is supplied by a coil (20, Fig. 4, not shown) which abuts the rear ends of the housing 10 and of mandrels (18) which are located in the collets during the deformation. Instead of being retained by the collets 16, contacts or terminals may be secured directly in the housing 10 by this method.
