Abstract

1,032,354. Upholstery supports. PIRELLI Ltd. Jan. 15, 1963 [Feb. 23, 1962], No. 7082/62. Heading A4M. A resilient upholstery support has a main membrane 10 and an auxiliary membrane 11 secured thereto at its peripheral margin 12 to form an enclosed interspace 13 between the membranes. In a modification the interspace between membranes 20, 21 is divided into pockets 23 by further securing membrane 21 to membrane 20 along lines 24. The interspaces 13, 23 are filled with a gas or a liquid or material such as latex foam, polyurethane or polystyrene. A further modification, Fig. 6, has membranes 30, 31, padding material 34 and a covering 35 being secured over membrane 31 to form a seat squab 36 and membrane 30 has thickened bracing portions 70. In each form of the support holes 40 are formed adjacent the periphery of the main membrane or in extensions 41, 42 for connection to seat frames.
